Hyundai Venue Great India Drive blog: Day 3

Day 3 of the Great India Drive takes us to Guwahati after a 500km long drive

We started our longest drive of the leg on day 3 of our Great India Drive. We embarked from Siliguri and had our eyes set for Guwahati, a daunting 500km drive that would take us 10 hours.

“The turbo petrol engine helped us make brisk progress and the DCT gearbox made driving the long distance easier.”

We started nice and early to make sure we reach late in the evening but came across a picturesque spot 15 minutes into the drive. It was a beautiful riverside location with green mountains and a bridge in the distance. We were awestruck, we shot there for over an hour.

Knowing the length of the journey that lay ahead of us, we quickly wrapped up and headed onwards. Surely, 20 minutes later we reached Coronation Bridge where our photographers wanted some more shots. Our ETA was in trouble. However, the turbo petrol engine helped us make brisk progress and the DCT gearbox made driving the long distance easier. Later in the day we came within walking distance of the India-Bhutan border. Another day, another border touched on the Great India Drive!

After getting some beautiful sunset shots we headed into Assam. The highway was fantastic, our ETA was tumbling mile after mile and we were enjoying the drive.

We drove late into the night to reach our halt in Guwahati. We were drained and hungry but we had made it. We got some much needed rest before we head to Shillong on Day 4 of our drive.
