We started day six of the Mahindra Marazzo Ocean Trail from the port city of Visakhapatnam. Our destination for the day was Vijayawada. We left early and were on the road a little after 8AM. The drive was effortless and we found the Marazzo’s high speed stability to be a particular highlight. Triple-digit cruising speeds were easily achieved and the sixth gear was particularly useful for sustained high-speed cruising.

By afternoon we were in the beautiful town of Kakinada. Driving around for a short while we discovered a beautiful road right by the beach. More than a few kilometres long, it is the perfect place to enjoy the cool sea breeze as you walk right along the mostly empty stretch of road. Having had some fun in the sun, it was time to get ourselves some food. Asking the locals about their favourite place to get a meal, we found out about Subbayya restaurant. The place is iconic in Kakinada and has been around for more than six decades. It serves pure vegetarian authentic south Indian food and we ate till our tummies couldn’t take in any more.
With a heavy lunch, most of the team decided to take an afternoon siesta in the car. I took the wheel of the Mahindra Marazzo and the great highways with the pliant suspension and quiet cabin of the MPV ensured that their sleep wasn’t interrupted till we reached Vijayawada. In Vijayawada, the evening rush hour traffic ensured that we were delayed by a fair bit. Driving the Mahindra Marazzo through the evening traffic wasn’t much of a hassle at all and the light steering made light work of the wayward traffic we found in Vijayawada. We rested for the day. Tomorrow is a straight highway run to Chennai as we edge closer to the finish line on the Mahindra Marazzo Ocean Trail.
