Lamborghini India has been on a strong wicket thanks to the phenomenal success of the supercar brand in India, a feat that has been amped up in recent years with Sharad Agarwal, Head of Operations at the helm. We had a chance to interact with Sharad on the sidelines of the Urus Performante first drive in India and the head of Lamborghini India was ecstatic about the brand’s performance in India over the last year. “We delivered 92 cars with 33 per cent growth over the previous year. Also it was a very exciting year because we celebrated the milestone of 400 Lamborghinis in India. We also achieved the milestone of 200 Urus. We launched some new exciting models, the Huracan Tecnica, got the Aventador Ultimae to the market, we had the Urus Performante and towards the end of the year we also unveiled the new Sterrato in Doha for the media and customers. Overall, a very exciting year and we also created some nice experiences for our customers. ” Sharad went on to add that, “Most of our models remain very strong on demand from our customers. So we entered the year with a very strong healthy order book and we remain very optimistic again for this year.”

When asked about the response to the Urus Performante, Sharad said, “It's been very exciting. We launched this model in August last year globally and then we unveiled the car in November in India and since its global unveil, we have been getting very strong response from the market.” Talking about the demand of the Urus Performante, Sharad added, “The demand (for the Urus Performante) is strong today. We have a long waiting time of approximately 18 months on the model.” Sharad proceeded to tell us that deliveries of the super SUV would be starting at the beginning of the next quarter.

While we drove the Urus Performante in India this year, the Urus model lineup has also been tweaked, with the standard Urus not on sale in India anymore and it now replaced by the Urus S, with the Performante sitting a rung above it. “We will be launching the car in India very soon. But the price for the Urus S will start at Rs 3.8 crore,” says Sharad.

Commenting on Lamborghini’s first-ever hybrid supercar that was recently unveiled, Sharad says, “There's a lot of buzz actually around that model. A lot of our clients are very eagerly waiting for the launch this month. A lot of them are tracking it. So at the end of this month, we are going to unveil the car globally. We have a lot of interest from our clients already in India. A lot of bookings which we have already received. A V12 was always the hallmark of Lamborghini, and we will continue this success even with the new model. And what is also more exciting is that with this V12, we are also starting into the new era of hybrids. So we do the V12 hybrid this year and then we do the hybrid of Huracan and also the Urus next year. So, pretty excited.”

2023 also marks the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini and it also means that Lamborghini India’s calendar is packed with an armada of curated experiences for customers. “We are starting with this very unique, unexpected and exciting experience for our customers, where they can come and enjoy the new Urus Performante in the rally mode in this racetrack setup. So I'm sure they are going to have a lot of fun with the car. And then during the year we will also have the Giro 60th anniversary which will also happen in India. Like in the past we have had the Giro where we drove from Bengaluru to Coimbatore to Ooty in 2020, and in 2021 we did Delhi to Chandigarh to Shimla, so we are also going to create something more exciting this year. We also have a lot of Bull Runs which we are doing there.”
