Porsche 911 Carrera S unveiled globally
The Porsche 911 Carrera S slots between the standard Carrera and the Carrera GTS models;
Porsche has added the new Carrera S to the 911 model lineup, and it is available in both coupe and convertible body styles. In terms of positioning, the Carrera S slots in between the Carrera and the Carrera GTS models. The S also gets a more powerful engine compared to the standard Carrera along with additional equipment.
Porsche 911 Carrera S design and interior
Porsche says that the new sports car is based on the design of the previous-gen 911 Turbo models, and only closer inspection will help you to find the changes, such as the staggered tyre fitment with 20/21-inch Carrera S wheels and the Matrix LED headlights. On the inside, the Carrera S comes with a leather package in black as standard, while the rear seat system is optional on the coupe, and standard on the convertible. You also have the option of more extensive use of leather in the interior, for the globe box lid, side panels and the seat base. You get a wireless phone charger and the options include a lift system for the front axle and the Sport Chrono package.
Porsche 911 Carrera S engine and performance
The 3-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine of the Carrera S produces 473bhp of power – 29.5bhp more than before – and 530Nm of torque, which is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed PDK transmission. Porsche has fitted new turbochargers and has extensively optimised the charge-air cooling. These improvements have resulted in a top speed of 308kmph and and 0 to 100kmph acceleration time of 3.3 seconds. You also get a sports exhaust system with tailpipes in silver, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) – which is not available in the Carrera – and a new braking system from the 911 Carrera GTS as standard. On request, Porsche will also provide you with the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system and the PASM sports suspension, which features a 10-millimetre-lower ride height combined with rear-wheel steering. The damper hydraulics on the Carrera S have also been optimised compared to the predecessor model.
Porsche 911 Carrera S price
While Porsche has globally unveiled the Carrera S, it is likely that the sports car will make its way to India soon. Considering that the prices of the standard Carrera start from ₹1.98 crore, expect the prices of the Carrera S sports car to be north of the ₹2 crore mark, considering the increase in power and the additional equipment offered as standard.
