The second generation of the Mini Countryman Cooper S, Cooper SD and Cooper JCW has been launched in India at Rs 34.9 lakh,  37.4 lakh and  for 44.4 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi) . The car was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo and will be locally assembled at the automaker’s Chennai plant. The new gen Countryman has grown larger in size compared to its predecessor. It is 200mm longer, 30mm wider, and the wheelbase increases by 75mm. The Countryman Cooper S and S JCW gets a four-cyl petrol unit which produces 189bhp and 280Nm while the Countryman Cooper SD’s 2.0-litre diesel power plant produces 187bhp and 400Nm. Both the plants are mated to an 8-speed auto ‘box as standard. The Countryman also gets Mini’s ALL4 AWD system.

The design has been refreshed with new headlamps and an updated grille. The extended Mini look has been retained, while the classic rear has been carried over with some subtle changes. The JCW Inspired model gets an exclusive British Racing Green paint scheme with a white roof, hood stripes and mirror caps. Standard features for the models include a panaroma glass roof, Harmon Kardon music system, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two-tone climate control, three driving modes, DAS, and an automatic tailgate.
