Watch the making of Harley-Davidson on Discovery channel

Harley-Davidson has been ruling the American cruiser market since ages. The iconic brand was established 113 years ago, but what went behind the making of this traditional superbike maker? To get a deep insight, Discovery channel has produced a mini-series named ‘Harley and the Davidsons’ consisting of 3 episodes and will premiere in India on October 14 at 9PM.

The series will focus on the efforts of Walter, Bill and Arthur, who risked their entire providence on the project. Walter Davidson desired to escape the shackle of the society by building a bike that broke rules and could go anywhere, Arthur Davidson just wanted to be famous while Bill Harley wished to stay away from his controlling parents and implement his engineering skills.

The motorcycles were built in a shed based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Walter participated in deadly competitions on his bikes and that’s what put Harley-Davidson on the map. Indian Motorcycle was established in 1901 and was one of the bestselling brands in the country then, but Harley-Davidson actually overtook them. Even worse, The Great Depression hit and the automobile industry suffered a big blow. But Harley-Davidson sailed through the period, thanks to its forward thinking ideas. The bikemaker even secured a contract with the American Army and established several clubs across the country.

The history of Harley-Davidson is not just enticing but it gives a lot of insight into the American automobile industry. The cast in the mini-series includes artists from Game of Thrones, Sleep Hollow, Daredevil and many more acclaimed features and has been watched by over 4.4 million viewers already, in the USA, making it the most popular series in America, in the last 3.5 years. Don’t forget to watch it on Discovery channel on October 14.
