Triumph Thruxton R launched at Rs 10.90 lakh

Triumph Motorcycles has launched its quintessential modern day cafe racer – the Thruxton R – in India at a price of Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Thruxton R’s design is inspired by design of the Thruxtons of the late ’60s and gets all sorts of nifty details as a hark back to those bikes like the Monza style filler cap.

The Thruxton R is powered by Triumph’s new 1200cc parallel-twin engine that also features in the T120 Bonneville, but in its ‘high-power’ spec (the Bonnie gets it tuned in the ‘high torque’ spec). This engine features a lighter crank, higher compression and a unique airbox. This engine makes 96bhp and 112Nm of torque, 62 per cent more torque than the last generation Thruxton’s.

The Thruxton R is equipped with a whole lot of performance parts including adjustable Showa USD front forks, Brembo brakes, Ohlins rear suspension and Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres. In addition to all this, the Thruxton also gets ABS, ride-by-wire techology, traction control and a slipper clutch. The bike gets multiple rider modes that allow you to select between road, rain and sport mode.

The new Thruxton R will be available in two colour options — Diablo red and Silver Ice. But Triumph lets you make your Thruxton way more personal. They are offering customers upto 160 accessories including cockpit fairings, exhaust systems, lower clip-on handlebars and a whole host of other part to make your Thruxton as unique as possible. And if you’re not sure what will work and what won’t, Triumph are offering inspiration kits — a set of pre-picked custom parts to give the bike a desired look and feel.

Triumph have also announced that they will be launching a race kit for the Thruxton R later in the year. This kit, specially designed for competition and track use, will lower the weight of the bike and increase the power and torque the engine makes as well.
