Skoda reveals images of Karoq Scout

Ahead of its international debut in Paris, Skoda has revealed the images of the Karoq Scout, a meatier version of the regular Karoq. Visually, the Scout is not much different from the regular Karoq except for the ‘Scout’ badges flanking the front wheel arches and front mudguards, lots of chrome and silver-coloured bodywork and new 18-inch ‘Braga’ alloy wheels with 19-inchers as an option. On the inside, you get newly designed seat covers with ‘Scout’ lettering. You also get a multi function steering wheel wrapped in leather, stainless steel pedals and an LED package which includes ambient lighting. Powered tailgate is also offered as an option.

The Skoda Karoq Scout will be available with petrol and diesel powertrains, unlike the regular Karoq which does not get the option of a petrol powertrain. The 1.5-litre TSI engine makes 147.5bhp and comes paired to a 7-speed DSG. The 2-litre TDI engine comes in two different states of tunes – one that makes 147.5bhp and comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG and a more powerful 187.8bhp version that comes mated to a 7-speed DSG as standard. AWD is standard in all the variants.

The Skoda Karoq Scout will not make it to our shores. However, when the regular Karoq arrives in India, it will compete against the Jeep Compass. The Karoq has the potential of turning around the fortunes for Skoda in India the way the Compass did for Jeep, if Skoda gets its pricing right.
