UM Motorcycles is an American bike manufacturer that made their debut in the Indian market with two models – the Renegade Sport S and the Renegade Commando. After unveiling the Renegade series at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the American brand had joined hands with Lohia Auto in September 2014 to help push the production and sales in India.
At a press conference in Mumbai, Rajeev Mishra, UM Motorcycles Director stated that the company has planned to expand their outreach in the cruiser-segment with the launch of its third bike – the Renegade Classic. Unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo the Renegade Classic was due this October. However the launch was delayed because the motorcycle did not meet the new Euro IV emission norms. In order to meet the emission norms the Renegade Classic will now be powered by a 279.5cc, fuel-injected engine making 24.8 bhp of power at 8500 rpm and 21.8 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The Classic will also get disc brakes with ABS, which will standard across all models. The Commando and Sport S will also benefit from fuel injection next year.
The Renegade Classic shares the same platform as the Commando and Sport S. As of now not much has been said about the bike except that it will sport a windscreen and a lot more chrome. Watch this space for further updates.
