Porsche has revealed new 718 Cayman T and Boxster T

Porsche has revealed the 718 Boxster T and 718 Cayman T, which are the new versions of their mid-engined 718 Boxster and Cayman twins. Following the trend set by this year’s 911T (or ‘Touring’), the new models will offer a lighter, more focused, and more accessible performance variant than the ‘S’ models.

The powertrain for the new models is shared with a standard 718 Cayman, which produces 297bhp and 380 Nm from the 2-litre flat-four turbocharged engine. However, it now gets the chassis tune previously exclusive to the Cayman S, along with a raft of new standard equipment including the Sport Chrono package (which offers Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual driving modes), PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), a sports exhaust and Porsche Torque Vectoring.

A special feature of these models is the Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts (PADM) system that minimise the vibrations from the engine/gearbox area and reduce movements that could affect driving dynamics as a result of the total mass of the drivetrain. Porsche says this makes the driving behaviour noticeably more precise and stable during changes in load or on fast curves.

Lastly, there are some bespoke elements such as shortened gear ratios on the standard six-speed manual gearbox (a seven-speed PDK is optional), grey finishes on the mirror caps and 20-inch wheels, some pseudo GT-like interior elements such as the fabric door pulls, sports seats, a smaller GT Sport steering wheel and unique ‘Cayman T’ decals on the doors.
