Volkswagen unveils 2019 Jetta at the North American International Auto Show

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show 2018 and it comes loaded with features to the brim and gets new design. Styling wise, it gets a new, bigger and bolder hexagonal front grille and a muscular bonnet. The rear gets twin quad exhaust pipes that add to the sporty appeal. The car gets 33mm longer wheelbase over the outgoing model which will make the interiors more spacious.

Under the hood of the new Jetta is a 1.4-litre TSI engine that makes 147bhp and 249.5Nm of maximum torque which comes coupled to 6-speed manual or 8-speed as automatic transmission options. The car also gets a Start/Stop technology aimed at improving fuel economy. It gets a host of driver aids like collision warning system, a radar governed brake assist system, blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert, high beam control, lane assist and cruise control. The new Jetta comes with automatic post collision braking system that automatically applies brakes once the airbag sensors detect collision. The car also comes with a panoramic sunroof.

Inside the cabin, the new Jetta gets ambient lighting with 10-colour options, new fabric and colour options for seats, heated and ventilated front seats, dual zone climate control and a centre storage control. The car gets touch screen infotainment system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink for smartphone connectivity. The new Jetta comes with a 400 Watt Beats audio system.

The new Jetta is based on the same platform as the new Polo which is sold internationally. VW currently don’t seem to have any plans to launch these cars in Indian market.
