Volkswagen has announced that the company will be increasing prices of all their cars from January 2018. The increase is upto Rs 20,000 depending upon the model and variant. The main reason for the price hike is due to the variation in the global input costs and freight costs and hence customers will have to end up paying upto Rs 20,000 more on the existing prices across the range.

Commenting on the announcement, Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “The price increase is essential on account of several external economic factors as well as fluctuations in the global commodity price and local input cost and is in line with industry. The impact will be across the product range in India.”

Volkswagen currently has Passat, Tiguan, Vento, Ameo, Polo, PoloGT and Polo GTI on offer in the country. The Passat and Tiguan were launched early this year and we have driven both of them. Read our review of the 2017 Passat here and review of the 2017 Tiguan here.
