Toyota has been talking about making more evocative cars for a while and the Fortuner was a first glimpse of that new design language in India. The Corolla Altis follows with sharper styling that makes it look more contemporary than before. The updated Corolla Altis only gets cosmetic updates however, and prices now start from Rs 15.87 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

There are four petrol and two diesel variants in the Altis, this being the only car that focuses more on the petrol variant as the diesel is far too underpowered compared to its rivals. You don’t even get top-end trim in the diesel. The 1.8-litre petrol makes 138bhp of power and 173Nm of torque and the diesel makes 87bhp of power and 205Nm of torque. You get the same six-speed manual transmissions with both engines and the CVT with the petrol.

In terms of cosmetic updates, sleeker headlamps make the front end look a lot different compared to the pre-facelift car. There’s a tweaked rear too and both the lights get LED elements with LED DRLs in the headlamps. Toyota is also offering a new design for the alloy wheels now. The petrol variants get a touchscreen as standard fitment that’s mirrorlink compatible. Seven airbags, hill assist, vehicle stability control and ABS with EBD come part of the safety package.
