Triumph has launched 2018 Tiger 800 motorcycle range. The line-up consists of the Tiger 800 XR priced at Rs 11.76 lakh, while the XRx variant costs Rs 13.13 lakh. The off-road oriented Tiger 800 XCx is priced at Rs 13.76 lakh. The new launches replace Triumph’s previous Tiger 800 line-up which consisted of four bikes; the XR, XRx, XCx and XCA.
The company claims to have made more than 200 upgrades to the chassis and engine. Majority of the changes are made to the drivetrain. With almost 40 new parts including the removal of backlash gears, crankshaft optimisation and better cooling components the Tiger has gotten more refined, claims Triumph. The 2018 Tiger 800, currently in its third generation, makes the same power and torque figures as the previous generation motorcycle, 94bhp and 79Nm. However, the peak power comes in at 9500rpm as compared to 9250rpm as compared to predecessor while the maximum torque is developed at 8050rpm, 200 revs higher. The exhaust is now smaller and lighter too, for optimised weight balance and a better soundtrack.
Changes have been made on the ergonomics front, the bike gets heated grips, and it comes with adjustable suspension for the front and rear. The fly screen is manually adjustable in five ways. The Tiger 800 gets the 5-inch TFT instrument console and switch gear that is seen on the Street Triple RS.The Tiger 800 gets a more bold design featuring sharper body panels, new graphics, aggressive headlamp design and a 5-way adjustable windscreen at the front. Equipment updates include a new 5-inch full-colour TFT display, switch cubes and 5-way joystick, illuminated backlit buttons and updated cruise control.
