Tata Motors has launched the Nexon AMT at Rs 9.41 lakh for the petrol variant. The optional dual tone roof for the same retails at Rs 9.61 lakh. The Nexon AMT diesel starts at 10.38 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 10.59 lakh for the dual tone roof option. The dual tone roof option is available only for Etna Orange, Moroccan Blue and Vermont Red body colours. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
There are no cosmetic changes to the car, but there are some standalone features that make their way in the Nexon HyprDrive. You get a wearable key, crawl function, kick down mode, smart hill assist and fast-off. The fast-off feature keeps the power delivery on to reduce jerks immediately after overtakes. The car comes with three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport. Under the hood of the Nexon is the Revotron 1.2 litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that makes 108.5bhp and 170Nm. The Revotorq 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine churns out 108.5bhp and 260Nm. Both the engines come mated to the 6-speed AMT gearbox.
At the launch of the Tata Nexon AMT, Mayank Pareek, president of Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “Our focus is to introduce products and services that not only enhance the brand, but simultaneously align well with the rising aspirations of customer segments. AMT as a transmission is ideally suited for India’s traffic conditions, reducing the stress of driving at an affordable price, without compromising on fuel efficiency. With the introduction of the Hyprdrive S-SG in the Nexon, we aim to tap a larger market and increase our market share in not only the Compact SUV segment but also the AMT segment. Additionally, understanding the growing need for personalisation among Indian customers, we are introducing the ‘Imaginator’ – our online platform to visualize and customize the Nexon.”
The Nexon AMT is available in a new colour scheme called Etna orange that comes with an optional dual-tone roof colour. Tata Motors have also introduced an online platform called ‘Imaginator’ that allows customers to personalise their car virtually. The Tata Nexon took away the Design of the Year, Compact SUV of the Year and also the Car of the Year titles at the 10th Times Auto Awards that was conducted in partnership with evo India and Fast Bikes India earlier this year.
