Tata Motors has revealed the technical specifications of the Nexon Hyprdrive, which is the addition of an AMT transmission to the Nexon range. The Nexon not only bagged the Design of the Year and Compact SUV of the Year titles, but also took away the Car of the Year title at the Times Auto Awards early this year. The overall package that the car offers will probably become even better with the addition of the AMT convenience, for both diesel and petrol powered vehicles, for the first time in the compact SUV class.
The rest of the car is unchanged and it comes with two engine options. The Revotron 1.2 litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine develops 108.5bhp at 5000rpm and a peak torque of 170Nm at 1750-4000rpm. The Revotorq 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine develops 108.5bhp at 3750rpm and a peak torque of 260Nm at 1500-2750Nm. Both the engines come mated to the 6-speed AMT gearbox for the top end XZA+ variant.
As far as the features are considered, the XZA+ and XZ variants share the same list though the XZA+ comes with an AMT gearbox opposed to the manual one on the XZ. The engine comes with multi-drive modes like the Eco, City and Sport modes. The car also gets an addition of hill assist and creep function. It’s the only car in its segment to offer automatic gearbox on both the petrol and the diesel variants.
Stay tuned for the first drive review.
