German car maker Audi has developed and built an extra-long version of the A8 L sedan and you might expect the A8L Extended to have facing seats inside like a limousine, but all the passengers actually look forward. The third row has an entertainment display and a refrigerated storage box. The second and third rows also have power adjustable seats in beige Valcona leather. The car comes with six doors and can seat six people in luxury. The extra-long sedan now measures 6.36 meters (20.9 ft) in length.
This king-size A8 L took experts over a year to develop and build and the result was an exclusive one-off extended luxury sedan that meets every domain of the production model. The major difficulties faced by the engineers were safety and the rigidity of the extra large body. The company has used the same Audi Space Frame design which is made almost entirely from aluminium to design the extra-long body.
Under the hood, the A8 L Extended gets Audi’s 3.0 TFSI engine developing 305bhp and 440 Nm of torque, and is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission which transfers the power to the quattro all-wheel drive system. The car can clock the 0 – 100 kmph sprint in 7.1 seconds.
The A8L Extended likely won’t remain a one-off for long. According to Audi, the customer response has been quite positive, and the company has already received requests to build more.
