Cougar Motorsports has announced that the Force Gurkha RFC India 2016 will be limited to a maximum of 25 entries. The event is scheduled to be held in Goa from the 22nd to 29th July and registrations for the event has been opened.

The RFC hosted two regional rounds, one in the north and one in the south earlier this year, the winners of which have secured a free entry into the final round. In the north, Cougar motorsport tied up with the Gerrari Offroaders group and conducted their stages at the club’s event called Offroading Mania. In the south, Cougar Motorsport tied up with BODA, and held a few stages at its Annual OTR. The fees was nominal in comparison to the main event’s and it encouraged a lot of local talent to take part. Since two seats have already been claimed by these winners, the total number of slots remaining is now 23.

The registration fee for this year’s RFC event is Rs 75,000 per team, with each team consisting of a driver and a navigator. Unless you have participated in the RFC before, your application will go through a screening process before being selected. When questioned on why limit the number of entries this year, officials said the main issue is time. As the event progresses, the stages get harder and it takes longer and longer to complete stages. Limiting the number of entries allows the organisers to maintain the high standard the competition has been known to have, while completing the event in the stipulated time.

The Rainforest Challenge began in Malaysia first, in 1997. Since then, more RFC competitions have been started in Italy, Russia, The Balkans, Poland, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Tunisia, China and Australia and since two years ago, India.
