Renault Lodgy prices slashed

Renault India has announced a price-cut of up to Rs 96,000 on it’s Lodgy MUV. Citing the French car maker’s fifth anniversary celebrations in India, the company has decided to offer the lower powered variants of the Lodgy at a more affordable price.

Anniversary celebrations aside, it is now a known fact that the Lodgy isn’t setting the sales charts on fire. With the launch of the Toyota Innova Crysta, Renault India is now feeling the heat. While the Innova Crysta is priced almost double, the MPV segment is not as well defined and competition is not just price oriented. Renault now wants to push forward the 83bhp variant to increase fleet sales. In the month of April only 391 units of the MPV were sold while the number almost doubled to 730 because of fleet sales. Prices of the 83bhp Lodgy now start at Rs 7.59 (Rs 8.56 earlier) for the base variant of the car. The discount is not applicable on the 108bhp variants. Prices for the much popular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga start at Rs 7.08 while the Honda Mobilio is priced at Rs 8.67 lakh, which also rival the Lodgy in the MUV segment.

Based on the Duster, The Lodgy is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K engine. The fixed-geometry turbo version churns out 83bhp and 200Nm of torque, while the more powerful variable-geometry turbo version makes 108bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and a 6 speed gearbox, respectively.

RXE: Rs. 8.57 lakh

RXL: Rs. 9.44 lakh

RXZ: Rs. 10.99 lakh
