After grabbing headlines and many eyeballs at the 87th Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors’ has achieved another feather in its cap for the TAMO Racemo by winning the Exceptional Product Design in the Gold category for International Excellence. The car will be India’s first globally developed two-seater sports coupe, designed by the Tata Motors design studio in Turin, Italy.
On winning the award, the head of design in Tata motors, Pratap Bose said, “With the Racemo winning the award for International Design Excellence, within a few months from its first global showcase, marks a very important milestone for Tata Motors Design Team. The Racemo was the result of the intense collaboration between the design and engineering team at Tata Motors. All of us at Tata Motors are very proud and excited about bringing the car to India.”
The Racemo is built on a MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich structure, which enables greater freedom in surface design, large scale part integration leading to modularity and faster time to market. The collaboration of Microsoft with TAMO for developing the car’s on-board systems like cloud computing and human-machine interface for connected technology was another highlight for Racemo. The added benefit of their partnership with Microsoft was that the Racemo became the first Indian sports car to be available on Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 3 video game.
The Racemo has now built quite a name for itself even prior to its launch. Let us hope that Tata keeps up its promise and brings in the sportscar soon. Christmas isn’t far away!
