The German luxury carmaker launched the all-new Audi A4 30TFSI in India with a price tag of Rs 38.1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi and Maharashtra). It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and launched in the international markets mid-2015.

In terms of design, the new A4 is nothing like its predecessor. It sports a bold styling with crisp lines and sharp edges which are complemented by the even more edgy DRLs and LED taillights. The dynamic turn indicators add brownie points to the new design element. On the inside the new A4 gets Audi’s virtual cockpit which comes with a high-res multifunctional digital instrument display and that is going to be one of the strongest pluses, when it comes to luxury car buyers.

Under the hood, the A4 is powered by a smaller 1.4-litre TFSI turbo-petrol engine which makes 150bhp of power and 250Nm of torque, mated to Audi’s S-Tronic gearbox. The new A4 on paper is around 10 horses down on the old 1.8-litre TFSI A4, but clocks the 0-100kimph sprint in 8.5 seconds – a tad bit faster than its predecessor, thanks to the VW Group’s modular MQB platform that underpins the new A4. With 95kg less and packed with a smaller engine, the new A4 claims best-in-class fuel efficiency of 17.84kmpl (ARAI certified), which is an added bonus when it comes to clocking high sales figures in the Indian market.

The SUVs have been the game changers for Audi India, since there haven’t been many volume car launches in the past year. The new Audi A4 should bring a smile on the dealers’ faces though, with a price tag that cuts its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz C200 by over Rs 3 lakh. You can book the A4 at an Audi dealer near you, starting from tomorrow.
