The McLaren 570S Spider has officially debuted making it the third in bodystyle in company’s Sports Series line-up, after the 570S Coupe and 570GT. The McLaren 570S has a retractable hardtop which is a two-piece, lightweight composite roof used in the company’s Super Series Spider versions of the 650S and the 650LT.
The two-seater is rear wheel driven and it features a retractable hardtop that takes just 15 seconds to open or close, and at speeds of up to 40kmph. Additionally, it gets an electrically operated, glazed wind deflector.
The McLaren 570S is powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engine that delivers 554bhp at 7400rpm and a maximum torque of 600Nm between 5000rpm to 6500rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed gearbox. The 570S shoots from standstill to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds (thanks to its launch control system) and is able to go all the way to hit 328kmph with roof in place and 315kmph with the roof down.
Like the other McLaren models, the 570S also has several customisation options available to the buyer like the new 10-spoke lightweight forged alloy wheel design (19-inch front, 20-inch rear) and a new brake caliper coloured in liquid black. The 570S is available in three color options: Curacao Blue, Vega Blue and Sicilian Yellow. As with the 720S, McLaren will build the first 400 Spiders as “launch edition models.
The McLaren 570S Spider is hand-assembled at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, England and is available to order from more than 80 McLaren retailers worldwide.
