Indians love SUVs and that has led to several manufacturers opting for a butch, crossover look. Renault followed it with the Kwid Climber and now its Maruti Suzuki’s turn. Launched at a price Rs 4.57 lakh, the X costs roughly Rs 8000 over the regular Celerio. The X is available only in the VXi and ZXi trims.

The changes are limited to cosmetics with the inclusion of black bits all over. The bumper design remains the same but panels below the headlamps have been blackened along with the chrome strip from the grille being replaced with a black one. The B-pillar is black too along with the addition of door claddings. You also get black wheels, a la Ignis while the black panels extend to the rear of the car.

Similar story continues on the inside with an all-black interior with white inserts. The seats too in a black shade with orange inserts, to go with the all new Paprika Orange paint job.

Coming to the mechanicals, the CelerioX is powered by the same 998cc, 3-cylinder engine, producing 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT.

Maruti has sold over 3 lakh Celerios since its launch and the numbers are expected to improve with the addition of CelerioX to the range.
