Mahindra has launched the NuvoSport at Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-Thane), ex-showroom Mumbai. The NuvoSport may look like it’s a face-lift Quanto but it is a lot more than that.
It gets a fresh new front end design with a strip of LED DRLs now, the new Mahindra grille and a more muscular bumper. The bonnet gets a functional intercooler scoop, and the NuvoSport comes with plastic cladding now that isn’t body coloured. On the inside, there is a touchscreen infotainment system, more comfortable seats and two drive modes to alter efficiency. The Nuvosport like the TUV300 has seven seats, which is unique to the duo in this compact SUV segment.
Underneath that familiar skin is the new 3rd generation ladder frame chassis shared with the Scorpio. The wheelbase is longer to increase passenger space and it shows in the middle row. The middle row seats also recline more than before.
Powering the NuvoSport is the 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mHawk engine developing 100bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. It now comes mated to a 5-speed AMT gearbox in addition to the manual unit. We recently drove the NuvoSport at Mahindra’s test track in Nasik. You can read our first impressions here
