The all-new Jeep Compass has received a rating of five stars from the Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). Tested under the small off roader category, the Compass has scored 90 percent on adult occupant protection, 83 percent on child occupant protection, 64 percent on pedestrian safety and 59 percent on safety assists in the car. A five-star rating is the highest that is awarded by the Euro NCAP and clearly demonstrates safety features of the Jeep Compass and their efficacy.
However, it is to be noted that the Jeep Compass available in India is slightly different from the one tested by the Euro NCAP, that is sold in Europe. The Indian version has six instead of the eight airbags found on the European version. Also, the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) feature found in the European car doesn’t make its way to India. That apart, the car tested was nearly identical to the one on Indian streets.
So, if you are considering buying a small SUV, the Jeep Compass gives you one more reason to treat it as a serious contender.
