Jeep Cherokee facelift revealed

The new facelifted-Cherokee has been revealed ahead of its launch at the Detroit motor show. Jeep has done so with a bunch of pictures. The updated Cherokee gets a new headlamp design- the split headlamp has been done away with. The front has been redesigned although the semi-slanted grille has been retained but with a less steep rake angle. Among other changes, the bumper has been redesigned and so are some side panels. The rear gets redesigned tail-lamps and the registration plate holder is shifted higher.

Changes to the interior are far less dramatic and are limited to some changes to the metallic trim and slight changes to the area around the gear selector. All the changes seem targeted towards making the Cherokee seem closer to its siblings in terms of design and in these first pictures, Jeep seems to have accomplished that.

No announcements have been made about the drivetrain and specifications that the car will feature.  The Cherokee is available globally with multiple engine options and also a performance-oriented Trailhawk variant. Jeep currently has the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and the Compass in its India line-up and it is unclear at the moment if the Cherokee will make its way to India. Jeep is surging on a wave of  new-found momentum that the Compass’s success in India has brought along with it. Read what we think of the Cherokee’s younger sibling here.
