Facing heat from the competition, Jaguar has added another variant to its recently launched XE. Priced at Rs 43.69 lakh, the Prestige variant sits between the Pure and the top-end Portfolio variants.

Powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol engine as the Pure variant that develops 197bhp and 320Nm of torque, the XE can sprint to 100kmph in 6.8 seconds. Top speed is limited to 237 kmph. The Portfolio variant is  tuned in a more powerful manner, churning out 240bhp and does the 0-100 sprint in 6.8 seconds. The engine is mated to a 8 speed gearbox with paddle shifters.

The car comes standard with features such as a sliding sunroof, Taurus leather seats, 380W Meridian sound system, an 8-inch infotainment display, rear view camera, All Surface Progress Control and hill assist. On the safety front, the XE gets 6 airbags and DSC.

At the event, Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said, “With the introduction of the Jaguar XE, we have entered a new market segment and made Jaguar more accessible to our customers while maintaining the premium and aspirational equity of the brand. This luxury sport saloon has been setting benchmarks in the industry since its launch and with the introduction of the Prestige derivative, we are confident of its continued popularity and success.”

The petrol-only Jaguar XE goes against the likes of BMW’s recently relaunched 320i, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the soon to be launched New A4 from Audi.
