Hyundai Tucson 2016

Recently, Hyundai showcased their latest generation Tucson at Geneva Motor Show, 2015 and now the SUV is ready to make its come back in India in 2016. The Korean manufacturer first introduced Tucson to Indian market in 2005 but discontinued it soon after due to low demand. Hyundai is targeting the burgeoning SUV segment in the country with newly launched Creta and Santa Fe, and the Tucson is the only SUV in their portfolio which is not available in the country.

Hyundai’s Tucson fits between its compact SUV, the Creta and full-size SUV, the Santa Fe. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Indian version of Tucson is expected to come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing a maximum power of 180bhp and peak torque of 400Nm mated with six-speed manual transmission. The AWD version of Tucson is also expected to be introduced to the Indian market.

According to reports, Hyundai has plans to start producing the SUV locally in future, but for now it will only be available as a CKD unit. The only direct competition it really faces is from the Honda CR-V, however it might just eat into the sales of the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Toyota Fortuner as well.

According to reports it is exclusively developed for the Gran Turismo racing video game franchise for the Play Station.
