Hyundai Motors to unveil its electric concept at CES 2018

Hyundai Motors is all set to showcase its next gen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) concept at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) that is set to commence from January 9 in Las Vegas.

The theme of CES this year is to build a bridge between technology and mobility. The demos will include Hyundai’s Intelligent Personal Cockpit that uses AI for voice commands and a driver health monitoring system that detects his/her vital signs. Hyundai will also focus on its autonomous driving technology. The new concept that is to be showcased at the CES will be used for this development starting this year.

Hyundai has also announced a partnership with Aurora, an American company that specialises in autonomous driving technology. The JV will work towards developing level 4 autonomous cars to the world by 2021. The partnership will focus on the development of both, hardware and software that is required to achieve level 4 criteria. According to Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), a level four autonomous vehicle doesn’t need human intervention for driving the car in select conditions. Hyundai first kick started its autonomous vehicle testing on public roads in the state of Nevada, USA in 2015. The self-driving technology from Aurora used in specially developed Hyundai cars will be tested on select cities before being introduced worldwide.

The name of the concept car and other driver assistance technologies will be revealed at the show. Hyundai will focus more on hydrogen powered vehicles. Its new AI- based cockpit will also be displayed in the concept car during the CES.
