Hyundai India has achieved a new milestone in India, with the roll out of its 5 millionth car for the domestic market. This milestone happened to be achieved by a Verna that rolled off the line. Commercial production of Hyundais in India started way back in 1998, and the one million mark was achieved nine years later in 2007 with a Santro. Since then, production has been ramped up considerably and Hyundai achieved the 3 million mark in July 2013. Now after 19 years since its entry into India, Hyundai has reached the 5 million mark. Hyundai has a total of nine vehicles in its portfolio and the best-sellers include the Elite 120, the Hyundai Creta and the Grand i10 (all incidentally Indian Car of the Year winners).
“Hyundai has a remarkable journey in India by becoming the most loved and trusted brand by customers, partners and experts. Today we are very happy to roll out the 5 Millionth car with the next gen Verna in the Indian market, the fastest in the Industry symbolizing Hyundai’s long-term commitment to the Indian market. We will continue this momentum with strong efforts towards customer delight through unique experiences to customers. We thank our valuable customers and partners for their support and trust in Hyundai”, said Y K Koo, CEO and managing director, Hyundai India.
Hyundai India currently has two manufacturing facilities in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai and a state-of-art R&D centre in Hyderabad.
