Genesis, Hyundai‘s luxury car arm unveiled its entry level model – the G70, at the Hyundai Genesis Design Center in Namyang, South Korea recently. The new model sits below the G80 in the company’s present line-up of three models.

The G70 borrows styling cues from its elder siblings – G80 and G90, and presents them in a more compact design. The front features the Genesis’ signature grille, vertical and slanted air-inlet slats and sharp headlamps with projectors and LED DRLs. While on the sides there are some smooth flowing lines which give it a more proportioned stance. And at the rear the tail lights feature L-shaped LED inserts.

“At Genesis, we shape fascination and desire with the passion, dedication and talent from our designers. We modulated all parameters from the Genesis DNA to tailor a sports sedan. This challenge required the highest skills and know-how. The G70 is designed to captivate all senses with its sensuous and tensioned muscular volumes,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Genesis Design. Besides Genesis, he is also known as a former designer for Bentley, Audi and Lamborghini.

The G70 will compete in the entry-level luxury sedan market. Interiors feature a three-spoke steering wheel, aluminum pedals, a large touchscreen infotainment display, diamond –quilted leather seats and other bells and whistles needed to take on the competition. Other important features include launch control, dynamic torque vectoring system and mechanical limited slip differential.

Powertrain options include a 2-litre in-line four cylinder, turbo-petrol unit, a 2.2-litre in-line four cylinder diesel unit and a 3.3-litre turbocharged V6 petrol unit, which produce 248bhp, 199bhp and 365bhp of power, respectively. The top of the line 3.3-litre motor is capable to take the car from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.7 seconds and will keep pushing it until the top speed of 270 kmph.

The G70 will be available for booking on September 20 in South Korea.
