After the launch of the Hexa in the final few days of 2016, Tata Motors have revealed their next two additions to their portfolio at Geneva with the Tigor and the Nexon, the former scheduled to be launched in this month itself.
The Tigor is the sedan version of the Tiago and will battle in the sub-4-metre segment with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift D’Zire, the Hyundai Xcent and the Volkswagen Ameo. The Geneva edition of the same bears Tata’s signature 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine with a manual box, the performance details are yet to be revealed. While the front of the Tigor still is reminiscent of the Tiago, the swooping roofline is quite unique and is being termed by Tata as a Sportsback.
The Harman in-car infotainment system is being carried forward from the Tiago with eight speakers and a touch-screen panel for all your entertainment needs. The car also features park assist and is equipped with reverse camera.
The Nexon is Tata’s offering in the highly competitive compact SUV segment which is currently dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The Nexon too is sub-4-metre and was already shown at the 2016 Auto Expo in a production ready spec. Propelling the Nexon is a 1.5-litre four cylinder Revotorq diesel engine with a six-speed manual shown at Geneva.
The same Impact design philosophy has been adopted on the Nexon with swooping roof and projector headlamps with DRLs. 17-inch alloys prop the Nexon on its four wheels with neatly designed wheel arches lending it a sporty look.
While the Nexon is slated for a launch for the latter part of the year, the Tigor will be launched in this month itself, with bookings to start soon.
