The American-Indian marriage continues as India gets its first taste of American muscle with the unveil of the Ford Mustang. Ford India had been mulling over the idea to get the icon to India ever since the latest generation was launched as a right-hand drive, the first-time ever for a Mustang.
The Mustang comes as a CBU with 5.0-litre V8 motor which produces a whopping 529Nm of torque with 420 charging horses. A six-speed automatic transmission is mated to the mill. There will only be one engine that comes to India as Ford India wants the Mustang to exclusive.
The new Mustang ditches the ladder-frame chassis for a completely new monocoque construction hence making lighter, stiffer and more fun to drive with all wheel independent suspension in its latest avatar.
Performance parts such as four-piston caliper disc brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels come standard aid the driving experience of the muscle car with four driving modes available — normal, sport, wet and track. The car also sports HID headlamps, puddle-lamps with the Mustang logo projection, ambient lighting and an infotainment system with a 2.8-inch touchscreen.
The car goes on sale in the second quarter of 2016, with prices yet to be announced.
