Ford India will be launching the iconic muscle car in India finally on July 13. Expected to be priced at Rs 60 lakh approximately, the Mustang GT will be brought to Indian shores via the CBU route.

First launched in 1965, the American icon has finally come to India since Ford is making the Mustang for the first time as a right-hand drive model. The GT variant of the car will be launched as Ford wants the halo car to be launched only in top trim. Powered by a massive 5-litre V8 engine, the Mustang churns out 420bhp of power and 529Nm of maximum torque and comes mated to a 6 speed DCT with paddle shifters, transferring the power to the rear axle. This latest generation Mustang is the first car to get independent suspension all round improving the sports car’s handling to a great extent.

On the features front, the Mustang comes with Ford’s Sync Bluetooth system, reverse camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, launch control, electronic line-lock, cruise control, cross-traffic alert, blind spot information system, 4.2inch message screen, ‘Christmas Tree’ countdown timer and an optional performance package.  The muscle car is safe too as it comes equipped with 4-airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control system and electronic stability control programme. Along with the standard features, the Ford My Key (also available in Figo & Figo Aspire) is now standard on the GT variant. The Mustang comes with four driving modes, namely Normal, Sport+, Track, and Snow/ Wet.

Indian enthusiasts will finally have a chance to experience the joy of driving a muscle car, thanks to the reasonable expected pricing by Ford.  The launch of the Mustang GT might open up a whole new market in the Indian automobile industry.
