Noticeable updates on the facelift model include a new trapezoidal grille, new wider front bumper with integrated triangular fog lamps, wider headlamps with LED DRLs and projectors, silver skid plates at the front and the rear and larger 17-inch alloys. Step inside and you will be greated with a completely new cabin, gone is the cluster of buttons on centre console giving way to a new floating 8-inch touchscreen system with SYNC 3, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other important updates include wider seats with improved cushioning, a larger steering wheel and adjustable floorboard.

The updated Ecosport is available with two engine options. The 1.5-litre diesel unit remains unchanged, while the old 1.5-litre petrol motor is replaced by a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol motor that pumps out 120bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The automatic is a torque converter unit and is available only with the petrol motor, it also features paddle shifters in the top-spec trim.

The Ecosport facelift is no short on security features either, it gets dual-airbags and ABS as standard while the top trims feature 6 airbags. The Ecosport rivals the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra Nuvosport, Honda WR-V and Tata Nexon in the Indian market. With ford keeping the prices for the facelift model unchanged, it will be interesting to watch how the rivals compete.
