Mercedes Benz is set to unveil the new 2017 E-Class coupe which is codenamed the C283.
The Coupe will be available in five variants with a choice of a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder petrol and diesel engine. The power figures of the petrol and diesel cars haven’t been disclosed by Mercedes yet. All the variants come with the optional 4Matic four-wheel-drive system apart from the E 300 which will be available exclusively in rear-wheel drive.
AMG lovers rejoice as Mercedes will also get the performance spec E 50 AMG Coupe which will come with a newly developed 3-litre electrically turbocharged petrol engine which delivering 402bhp (estimated). The electric turbocharger uses compressed air rather then the exhaust gasses which help in reducing fuel consumption and Mercedes plans to introduce this technology in all of the upcoming the AMG vehicles.
Following Mercedes’ design concept, the new E-Class Coupe is looks like the love-child between the E- Class sedan and the S-Class Coupe resulting in a car which looks absolutely stunning even with the road testing camouflage. Compared to the older variant which is currently available in the UK, the new coupe gets a wheelbase of 4827mm which is 124mm more than the current car. The interiors of the car shares most of the bits and pieces from the E-Class sedan including the optional twin 12.3 inch high definition instruments and infotainment displays as well as its complete dashboard design and switches and buttons. The coupe is the first car by Mercedes which will give the customer an option of opting for a touch pad rather than the central rotary knob to control the central command system for a few extra quids.
The Coupe is set to be showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next March and is expected to enter UK shores only in the second half of 2017 and will be produced in the Mercedes’ Bremen factory in Germany.
