Powered by the same 2.5-litre diesel unit that has been doing duty on the existing car, the tweaked engine is now christened as mHawkD70. As the name suggests, it now makes 70bhp of power, up by 7bhp as compared to the older unit. The torque figure remains as it is, at 195Nm. Mahindra claims that the fuel efficiency figure of the UV is now improved by five per cent while the power delivery is better by thirteen per cent.
Other than the engine, no changes have been made to the Bolero, whatsoever, with the exception of the Power+ badge on the body. It still comes with 7-seats and existing features of the earlier Bolero, although the seats now offer better cushioning. It gets a digital instrument cluster, a voice messaging system and auto engine start/stop feature (only available on the ZLX variant). The addition of an engine immobilizer is a first on the Power+ variant though.
Speaking on the new launch Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. commented, “The Bolero has been India’s No.1 SUV for 10 years in a row from 2005-06 to 2015-16 and the all Power+ is an evolution of this powerful brand. In our endeavour to enhance the product value proposition, we have introduced the New Bolero Power+ with the mhawkD70 engine delivering more power, more mileage & a peppier drive. I am sure that the New Bolero Power+, with its overall better value proposition, will heighten its appeal not only amongst its core customers but also excite more buyers.”
The Bolero gets a 3 years/1 lakh km warranty on all variants and is available in Mahindra dealerships across the country, starting from today.
