The BMW M3 is one of the first cars to feature mind-bending performance under the hood of a high volume car, and this is precisely what made it a legendary car. And it still is, to this day. The first generation M3 was launched way back in 1986 and to celebrate 30 years of its existence, BMW have built a special limited edition version of the M3 called the M3 30 Jahre.

The M3 Jahre is based on the the Competition Package M3, which is essentially a regular M3 with a couple of upgrades. For starters, more power — 18.7bhp to be precise. It also gets recalibrated springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, updated driving modes and an active M differential. The car also gets 265/30 R20 tyres in the front and wider 285/30 R20 at the back. All this, combined with the optional 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox allow this limited edition car to sprint to 100kmph in 4 seconds flat, 0.1 seconds faster than the standard car. Even when equipped with the standard 6-speed manual ‘box, the 30 Jahre is faster by a tenth of a second.

Visually, this limited edition car gets black chrome tailpipes and specially designed gills with the 30 Jahre M3 badging. In fact, this badging is embossed in 30 places all over the car to remind you that your car is slightly more special. Another unique feature on this car is the paint. The M3 Jahre 30 is painted ‘Macao Blue’ — a paint that made its debut into BMW’s colour palette when it was featured as a special option on the first generation M3.

BMW will only be building 500 units of the M3 Jahre 30. Compared to the series competition package equipped car, the limited edition will cost approximately Rs 15 lakh more.
