UM Lohia Two Wheelers have launched three motorcycles at the Auto Expo 2018 – Renegade Thor, Duty S and Duty Ace. The Renegade Thor is claimed to be the first geared electric cruiser motorcycle in the world. Powered by an electric asynchronous three-phase induction motor with a Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) battery, the Thor produces 30Kw (40bhp) at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 70Nm mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The maximum quoted range on one full charge is 270km. It gets a fast charger which pumps up the battery from 0-80 percent in 40 minutes. The Thor gets a belt drive system.
The Renegade Duty S and Duty Ace are both powered by an oil-cooled 223cc motor that develops 16.7bhp at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 17Nm at 5000rpm mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Both the motorcycles share all the mechanical components with each other. The bikes are shod with 120/80-17 tyre at the front and 130/90-15 tyre at the rear. Braking duties are handled by 280mm disc and 130mm drum brake setup at the front and rear respectively. Only distinguishable factor in both the motorcycles is a different paint job, headlamp console, rubber gaiters on the Ace and mirror shape and positioning. The Ace gets a single seat with an extension of the cowl on the rear seat over the dual seat on the S. The Renegade S and Ace retails at Rs 1.10lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajeev Mishra, CEO UML said, “We have received an overwhelming response to our cruisers since we launched them at the last expo. By unveiling the Thor we want to establish our technological advancement for the Indian market, reiterating the fact that we’re here to stay. The Indian market is opening to electric motorcycles, and with the Thor, we have a first mover’s advantage. The Renegade Duty S and the Duty Ace cater to a special segment of motorcyclists who are seeking fun and adventure from their motorcycles and we’re quite sure these will appeal to such young guns.”
