Possibly Mahindra’s most interesting take on a SUV in their portfolio ever, the XUV Aero has been revealed at the Auto Expo. The Aero is a coupe crossover based on the XUV500, much in the lines of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

The XUV500’s lines are evident in profile, especially the flared wheel arches leading up to the kink near the large rear quarter glass. The tapering roofline gives it a sporty stance with a better resolved rear end design than its SUV sibling. Horizontally stacked taillamps and the neat integrated boot spoiler are interesting elements.

Mahindra has also given suicide doors to the XUV Aero on the passenger side. The large opening shows a missing pillar, clearly signifyingat its show car intentions for now by the SUV manufacturer.Anand Mahindra however says that the company is ready for a production run if it is well received, indicating at an advanced stage of development.

If it does enter production, the XUV Aero will be Mahindra’s most premium offering. The XUV Aero will come with multiple drive and suspension modes – race, off-road, street and sport. Powered by a mHawk engine, power is said to be around the 210 horsepower mark, which will make it the most powerful production Mahindra vehicle ever. The XUV Aero can do the 0-100kmph sprint in under 6 seconds claims Mahindra.
