BMW has launched the all-new 7 series at a starting price of Rs 1.11 crore, ex-showroom Delhi. The new 7 series goes up against the much appreciated Mercedes-Benz S-Class and it also takes on the Audi A8 in this segment.
The new 7 Series may look like a facelift but it is an all new car. The sedan uses carbon fibre in key areas of the body shell to drop its kerb weight down by 130kg to its predecessor. Plenty of aluminium is used in the doors as well. The 7 Series now gets active air ride suspension that employs air springs in all four wheels that senses road conditions and adjusts softness to give you the ultimate cosseting ride.
Two engine options are being offered at launch – a 3.0-litre diesel V6 and a 4.4-litre petrol V8. The V6 produces 262bhp of max power and an impressive 620Nm of torque. The V8 posts a handsome 443bhp of power and 650Nm of torque, good enough to post a quick 0-100kmph sprint time of just 4.7 seconds.
The 3.0-litre diesel in the 730Ld car is offered in two CKD variants – Design Pure Excellence and M Sport. You can also purchase the Design Pure Excellence as a CBU if you want to customise it with BMW Individual’s range of customisations. The V8 is only on sale as a CBU in the same two trims as the diesel.
The 7 series features all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a flagship sedan from Bavaria and more. Features includes built-in wifi and gesture controls, wireless charging, a panoramic glass roof, a tablet in the centre armrest, the list goes on.
