Toyota has launched the second generation Innova at a starting price of Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Now christened the Innova Crysta, the new MPV is now positioned a segment higher than its predecessor.
The first indication of its premium positioning is the styling, a lot bolder than before and it gets automatic LED projector headlamps, a lot of chrome and cuts and creases all round. The interior is a major step up, now featuring even second row climate control air conditioning, power adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, push button start/stop, seven airbags in top trim and three standard airbags (driver, driver knee and passenger) for all other variants. Further on the safety front is standard ABS, EBD and brake assist. The top Innova trim also gets vehicle stability control and hill assist. The Innova Crysta as its predecessor will be offered in seven and eight seat options.
Toyota is offering the Innova Crysta with two new engines. The base unit is a 2.4-litre engine making 150PS of power and 343Nm of torque. There’s a more powerful 2.8-litre engine too with an output of 174PS and 360Nm. Choice of gearboxes is a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The Innova Crysta comes with 16 and 17 inch wheels. All the features and performance don’t come cheap. The top spec Crysta is priced at Rs 20.77 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai.
