250cc Suzuki Gixxer coming to India

While a 250cc Gixxer has been on the anvil for a long time, this is the first time, production bike images have been revealed. The images give a clear indication of what to expect when the bike is hopefully showcased in the forthcoming Auto Expo in February. The bodywork presents a larger silhouette than the smaller Gixxer sibling while retaining a similar design. The fairing employs a floating design and the seat is a two-piece affair. There is a larger diameter single disc at the front with a smaller rear disc rounding up braking duties. The instrument console is also carried over from the Gixxer.

Powering this will be a 250cc single that should be good for around 28bhp. While we would have loved the super smooth twin cylinder mill from the Inazuma to make its way here, it wont be viable in terms of cost especially at a time when the 250cc market is getting competitive. When it comes to India, hopefully some time around the end of 2017, we expect the price to hover around the Rs 2 lakh mark. At that point It can expect competition mainly from the KTM RC 200, Honda CBR 250R and the soon-to-be-launched DSK Hyosung GT250R.
