Volkswagen has started the production of the new Passat at their Aurangabad facility in India. The model in question is the new generation Passat which is based on Volkswagen’s well-known MQB platform and it is also the first sedan from Volkswagen in India to be based on that platform.
The new Passat will be offered as a premium offering from Volkswagen, it will be powered by the renowned 2-litre TDI diesel motor mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission. The engine will produce 174bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
On the occasion, Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are happy to bring back one of our most successful premium luxury products to the Indian market, the Volkswagen Passat. With the introduction of the Passat we extend our portfolio, encompassing a wide variety of products from a hatchback to a luxury sedan. Volkswagen will launch the new Passat in the country by the end of this year.
