BMW launches new X3M and X4M, along with Competition variants

BMW’s M-division is expanding its range of high-performance models. This now includes models in the midsize segment Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC). Enter the new X3M and X4M models the new benchmark for dynamic excellence, agility and precision in their respective classes.

Another novelty is the simultaneous launch of the BMW X3M and the BMW X4M which is their Competition variants. Therefore, the new X3M Competition and X4M Competition will capture customers’ expectations with their extra power and their unique features.

BMW’s new six-cylinder in-line engine gives superlative performance in X3M and X4M

The most powerful in-line six-cylinder engine ever seen in action on a BMW M car offers extraordinary performance. The newly developed unit with M TwinPower Turbo technology 473bhp from the 3.0-litre, with a peak torque of 600Nm. Also, the version of the twin-unit turbo in the X3M Competition and X4M Competition delivers 29bhp more to reach 502bhp .

A perfect power transfer: M xDrive and Active Differential M

The new high-performance engine is mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, using the new M xDrive integral transmission system. This system debuted in the M5. Also, the M xDrive system takes precedence over rear-wheel drive. Also, it offers the X3M and X4M owners two AWD driving modes. Next, the interaction, managed by the DSC, between M xDrive and Active Differential M on the rear axle, allows the four-wheel drive system to distribute the engine power between the four wheels, as required, to offer optimum traction, agility and directional stability .

Among the standard equipment in the BMW X3M and the BMW X4M and in the Competition versions are the LED headlights, the hi-fi speaker system and the ConnectedDrive navigation package which includes the Navigation System Professional. Lastly, the list of options for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 offers additional customisation options and includes cutting-edge driver assistance systems and the BMW Connected and BMW ConnectedDrive digital services.
