2017 formula 1 season is halfway through and Lewis Hamilton has managed to cut his championship deficit to just 1 point after facing issues in Azerbaijan and Austria. Vettel finished seventh after having blown his left front tyre and Raikkonen ended up losing the second step on the podium and finished third in the end.

Having begun the weekend with criticism from the local media for being absent during the F1 Live event in London, Hamilton salvaged his reputation as he flew through the qualifying with the fastest lap ever at Silverstone. Similar was the story during the race as Hamilton was controlling the pace comfortably, without really pushing much. Verstappen had a great start as always and managed to stay ahead of Vettel during the first stint, but Scuderia’s undercut helped Vettel gain the position back. Even Raikkonen was setting decent laps throughout the race after having been criticised by Scuderia Ferrari boss. Bottas on the other hand drove out of his wits and proved his mettle, as he gained 7 positions in the end, finishing up second.

Ricciardo was voted the driver of the day for starting from the last row and finishing fifth, entertaining the British crowd. McLaren continued its poor form and Alonso had to retire again thanks to engine issues while Vandoorne finished 11th, scoring no points. Hulkenberg finished sixth, gaining valuable points for the Renault team while both the Force India drivers scored points for the team to help them retain the fourth place in the constructor’s championship.

The Formula 1 circus now heads to Hungaroring on July 28, before heading into the summer break.
