Today, 29 November, marks the day Alfa Romeo signed a multi-year agreement with the Swiss Sauber F1 team for participation for the 2018 season of Formula 1 championship. The partners would go by the name of Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.

Back in 1950, the Alfa Romeo was unstoppable at F1 World Championship winning every single title, other than the Indianapolis 500 (for which they did not participate). They have a rich racing history, backed with legendary drivers such as Giuseppe Farina, Juan Manuel Fangio, and Mario Andretti.

The new cars will sport Alfa Romeo racing colours along with 2018 Ferrari power unit. The company is calling this as a “strategic, commercial and technological cooperation”

Pascal Picci, Chairman of Sauber Holding AG said “We are very pleased to welcome Alfa Romeo to the Sauber F1 Team. Alfa Romeo has a long history of success in Grand Prix racing, and we are very proud that this internationally renowned company has chosen to work with us for its return to the pinnacle of motorsport.

“Working closely with a car manufacturer is a great opportunity for the Sauber Group to further develop its technology and engineering projects. We are confident that together we can bring the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team great success, and look forward to a long and successful partnership.”

With a name like Alfa Romeo rejoining the ranks, 2018 season is looking more promising than ever. Will it transcend into success for the team, we will have to wait until Australia.
