Mahindra Great Escape: Shillong

Words by Afzal Rawuther

The Mahindra Great Escape moved to Shillong for its final leg this year. The 2017 Great Escape had its share of thrills for the adventure seekers that had made their way to the event. A total of 17 participants showed up for the event, 13 of whom were participating in the Off-Road trophy. The organisers from Mahindra Adventure and IMSC had planned for five obstacles to test even the toughest of off-roaders and their machines. However, fading light permitted for only three. The obstacles were a lot more technical this time around and tested the skills of the drivers and the co-drivers. The drivers had to collect flags that were scattered all around the course while avoiding the cones and staying within the confines of the course.

In the modified category, the 1st position was claimed by Highfill Syiem followed by Chainlang Jyrwa in 2nd and Heisar Kyndiah in 3rd place. In the stock category, Bichar Passah took home a victory and was closely followed by John Francis Khyriem in 2nd position. The winners get an all-expense paid trip to Igatpuri to participate in the Finals and stand a chance to win a brand new Thar.

The Mahindra Great Escape returns for another season next year.
