On the design front the CR-V comes in a refreshed avatar. It gets the signature Honda grille with a thick chrome strip and the front gets quite a muscular stance with the large front and rear bumpers. It gets stylish LED headlamp and tail lamps along with LED turn indicators. It also gets LED DRLs and new 18inch alloys.

The main highlights of the new Honda CR-V are its engines

The SUV gets a made-in-India 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 118bhp at 4,000rpm and 300Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. It’s mated to a segment first 9-speed automatic transmission and the company claims that it’s the lightest engine in its class thanks to generous use of aluminum. Moreover it also gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes 152bhp at 6,500rpm and 189Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. It’s coupled to a CVT. Sadly, the CR-V will not be offered in manual transmission at all.

Honda has packed the new CR-V to the brim, with lots of cool features

It gets a seven inch multi color information display, a seven inch touchscreen ‘Display Audio System’ with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three mode panoramic sunroof, 8 way power adjustable driver’s seat among many others. It also has segment first features like lane watch camera, remote engine starter, driver attention monitor and agile handling assist.

On the launch of the all-new CR-V, Gaku Nakanishi, President and CEO, Honda Car India Ltd said, “The all new CR-V distinctly offers fun to drive performance of an SUV and driving comfort of a sedan which makes it the perfect urban SUV. We believe that it will be a game changer in the premium SUV segment”.

Editor Sirish Chandran drove the SUV in Philippines last month after which we tested it in Jaipur as well. The SUV rivals not only the Hyundai Tuscon, Jeep Compass and Volkswagen Tiguan but also bigger SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor. Honda has slated three big launches this year for the Indian market and the CR-V is second in line for the same. The new Amaze was launched in May this year and the next generation Civic will be launched towards the end of the financial year, according to Honda.
