Ford adds more equipment to the EcoSport

Ford India established the compact SUV segment in India and that gave other manufacturers the conviction to launch their own sub-4 metre SUVs. With time, the once popular EcoSport has lost a bit of steam, especially after the Maruti Brezza was launched. So much so that Ford had to drop prices by a lakh to keep it in the game. It’s still a nice SUV to drive but was falling short on a few crucial features. Ford has solved that issue with a host of features now in the new platinum edition variant.

The platinum edition gets a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with sat-nav and it doubles up as the display screen for the reverse parking camera, bringing it in line with other top of the line variants in the compact SUV segment. On the outside, the EcoSport gets larger 17 inch wheels with a new alloy wheel design, blacked out roof and wider tyres too. The EcoSport also gets cruise control now.

You can get one with the 1-litre EcoBoost petrol engine or the 1.5-litre diesel with the former costing Rs 10.39 lakh and the latter priced at Rs 10.69 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The EcoSport is the only car in its class to get six airbags, and the SUV is generally more solidly built for cars of this price. This particular variant is about a lakh costlier than the top-trim Brezza though.
